FAQ
I've done my best to create a web site that anticipates and satisfies your needs, and with that goal in mind, I've compiled a list of frequently asked questions, however I am a photographer not a web designer, as you can probably tell, so if you don’t find an answer to your question here, contact us at 01383 732833 or tom.russell@zen.co.uk.
Q:- Why don’t you have a comprehensive price list? A:- Basically because if I tried to cover all the options then I’d run to about 40 pages and still would no doubt miss exactly what someone wants. I much prefer to talk to people about their own wedding and tailor a package that suits them - I’ve show some guide prices, and am happy for someone to say we’ve got “x” to spend what can you do for that.
Q:- When will I get my pictures? A:- I normally say you should have the proofs in your hands two or three weeks after the wedding i.e. if you’re away for a two week honeymoon then they should be ready when you get back. Having said that in some cases it may take longer than this if there are some special requests - it may be quicker as well if you have a real need! Once you have made your final choices I’d again hope to have the album with you in two weeks, although there may be other external influences on this and I would keep you informed on progress.
Q:- How many people will you use at my wedding? A:- The short answer is as many as necessary, I’ll almost always have an assistant, and if what you want means I have to have a second photographer as well then I’ll have another professional photographer there also - this will obviously cost more, but you’ll be made aware of this when we’re talking about the wedding itself.
Q:- When do I have to pay? A:- I take a booking fee, usually £100, (when the wedding is booked surprisingly enough), and then the remainder of the agreed price for the wedding 28 days prior to the wedding itself. I have no problem with people paying me the full fee prior to this time but take a very dim view if it’s late! I send out a reminder/invoice a couple of months before your wedding so you will have plenty of notice.
Q:- Is the booking fee refundable? A:- Almost certainly not I’m afraid, I will only ever do one wedding a day and will immediately turn down any other enquiries for your day after I’ve been booked. Unfortunately quite a number of weddings are canceled after being booked and usually at quite short notice leaving me no time to arrange another job for the day.
Q:- Do you mind if other people take pictures at the wedding? A:- No I don’t mind, although I would ask that they wait till I’ve taken the shot that I’ve just set up and then take their pictures rather than just shooting over my shoulder at each and every opportunity. One thing to remember though if you have people doing this it does slow down the whole procedure quite dramatically.
Q:- Can you stay and photograph the evening reception as well? A:- Yes - I’m there for the whole day as part of my normal routine and if you want can I be at the brides house to take images of her and the bridesmaids getting ready. However I don’t normally stay on for the evening reception so there would be a small extra charge for this.
Q:- Can you deliver photos at the reception i.e. take the pics during the day and have the proofs ready for people to see in the evening? A:- I can do but I don’t like doing it - not least because it’s very expensive as I have to hire another person to post process the images and they have to be good enough to work to my standards on a very short time limit. Nothing is impossible though so if you really want this talk to me and we’ll see what we can do.
More to follow as people keep asking things I haven’t thought of.
